Dear friends and colleagues,
The Local and Scientific Organizing Committees welcome you to the 27th ESVD–ECVD congress 2014 in the wonderful city of Salzburg, a location in the heart of Europe. You will enjoy a wonderful place where spectacular nature, history, music, and, last but not least, people meet. We are looking forward to making your stay enjoyable and memorable.
As for previous ESVD-ECVD congresses, the Scientific Organizing Committee has organized two separate lecture tracks. We have been able to attract excellent speakers in medical and veterinary dermatology from around the world. The Continuing Education Programme features otitis, the problems of brachycephalic dogs, pharmacology, compliance, cats, horses and small mammals, diagnostics, and clinical updates on MRSP and ectoparasites treatment. The Advanced Programme continues our commitment to high quality science, this year exploring alopecia, scaling, evidence-based medicine, and adverse food reactions. We also have two clinic-pathology tracks; one aimed at general practitioners and a more advanced session for specialists. Finally, we have 57 free communications and posters to showcase the very latest and very best findings in clinical and scientific dermatology.
As ever we can look forward to a fantastic social programme in one Europe’s most historic and beautiful cities. Please make sure that you join us for the Welcome Reception on Thursday 11th September. It will take place at the Residenz Palace, a splendid building from the 18th century. This get together will include a concert with music from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the great son of Salzburg, to entertain you. Please be on time (7 p.m.) as the doors will be closed once the concert has started. The reception and concert is free of charge but registration is required. The Dinner and Dance Evening on Friday 12th September at the traditional Stiegel Keller will start out as a seated dinner with typical Austrian Food, but will later transform into the traditional dance party we know you are looking forward to. Please make sure you book your tickets – you don’t want to miss this.
Both the social venues and the congress centre are conveniently located in the centre of the city. You and your partners will be able to enjoy the very best that Salzburg has to offer, and remember that the mountains are never far away!
Finally, we would like to thank all our sponsors for their support of this meeting. We are particularly indebted to our Long Term Partners (ICF, Merial and Royal Canin), without whom it would be difficult to continue with such high quality meetings. And last, but not least, we would like to thank our congress organizer, Pauwels Congress Organisers (PCO) from Maastricht, The Netherlands, for the quality of their management skills and the professionalism of their staff.
We are looking forward to sharing this stimulating scientific programme as well as the joys and tastes of Salzburg with you,
Otto Fischer, Karin Taglinger, Kurt Sick and Ursula Mayer
