Getting to Lille

By air
Lille is served by Lille-Lesquin Airport, located about 10 km from the city center. The airport offers flights to nearly 50 French and international destinations. A convenient shuttle bus connects the airport to the city center in approximately 20 minutes, and taxis and car rental services are also available for onward travel.

By train
Lille is exceptionally well connected by rail and boasts two major train stations: Lille Europe and Lille Flandres, located just 500 meters apart in the city center. Lille Europe is the hub for high-speed trains, including Eurostar services from London, TGV connections from Paris and other French cities, and Thalys trains from Brussels, Amsterdam, and Cologne. Lille Flandres mainly serves regional trains and some TGV routes. From Paris, the TGV takes about one hour, while the Eurostar from London arrives in roughly 1 hour and 20 minutes.

By car
Lille is at the crossroads of major European motorways, making it easily accessible by car. The A1 connects Lille to Paris, the A25 to Dunkirk, and the A22 to Ghent in Belgium. The city offers several Park-and-Ride facilities near metro stations, allowing visitors to park their car and continue their journey by public transport. Note that a Crit’Air sticker is required for vehicles entering the low-emission zone in Lille.

By bus
Long-distance buses provide an economical way to reach Lille from many French and European cities. The main bus station is located on Boulevard de Turin, near Lille Europe station, making transfers to trains and metro lines easy.

By metro, tram, and bus
Lille has an extensive public transport network operated by Ilévia, including two fully automated metro lines, two tram lines, and more than 40 bus routes. The metro connects key areas of the city, while the tram links Lille with Roubaix and Tourcoing. For short trips, the Vieux-Lille shuttle offers a convenient way to navigate the historic center.
